Give the gift that keeps on giving – Subscription boxes for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is always one of those days where I always feel a bit scrambled. Not only because I don’t know what to buy my mother and mother-in-law, but because it’s hard to say, “it’s my day, and I’m not doing anything.”

Honestly, we don’t all have that luxury. There are swimming lessons, homework and meal prep on the to-do list, and that doesn’t go away just because the calendar says Mother’s Day! And besides, shouldn’t everyday be celebrated?!

Okay, I’m not getting too cheesy, I’m just saying that when it comes to gifts, I honestly am like most other moms when I say I truly don’t need anything. I’m happy with some hugs and homemade artwork.

But in case you haven’t gotten mom anything yet, a subscription box is a great option! It is a box of curated items delivered right to her door, monthly or quarterly. But not all subscription boxes are made equally. There are different options and different price points.

Selection of subscription boxes for every mom

These subscription boxes are my favourite kind of gift…the kind that keeps on giving! I have an admitted subscription box addiction, and love that there are so many options available. You can do a one-time purchase, allowing mom to test it out to see if she likes it. Or you can buy monthly subscriptions, or quarterly boxes. Be sure to check if they are in CDN or USD, because that could change your overall spend significantly.

There are boxes for every taste and need, so see a list of my favourites below!

TOPBOX is a Canadian monthly box. Mom will receive 5-6 products that are shipped out on the 15th of each month. Cost is $12 CDN/month.

LuxeBox is a quarterly box, run by TOPBOX. For $26 CDN, mom will receive 7-8 products, with the ability to personalize some of the items (such as shade of lipstick or powder, scent of lotion, etc.)

Simply Beautiful Editor’s Box

Simply Beautiful Box is another Canadian box curated by the editors of BC Living. Valued at $150-200 each, the boxes cost $88 each (billed quarterly) and include 6-8 Canadian beauty, décor and fashion finds. There is the ability to add extras that ship directly with your box.

Stay Creative Spring 2019 Box

Stay Creative Box – Is your mom is a boss babe? An entrepreneur, blogger or a creator of any kind? Than this box is for her! This Canadian box ships quarterly and includes items such as desk décor, planning tools, accessories for flay lays, wellness products and snacks. The box costs $29.99 for the starter box or $179.99 for the annual plan.

I have subscribed to this box for the past year and I always find it inspiring and helpful. I have used many of the journals, notes, and wellness products from each box and always look forward to the next one!

Not all subscription boxes are about makeup and lifestyle, so think outside the box and consider these other boxes:

  • Food Subscription boxes such as Chef’s Plate or Hello Fresh could help mom in the kitchen.
  • Book subscription boxes such as Sweet Reads Box to have books sent to her monthly for her to read.
  • Tea subscription boxes such as My Tea Box is a great way to introduce new teas for her to enjoy.
  • And more….

There really is a subscription box for every taste and every mom!

Remember, these boxes usually have a specific time that they mail out, so their next box may not be in-line with Mother’s Day, however if you included a note for your mom to keep an eye out for her surprise, I’m sure she won’t mind waiting!

Happy Mother’s Day!
