I’ve put together the ultimate self-care gift guide for you – from you. Whatever your idea of self-care is, I’ve got you covered in the hopes that you’ll make time for yourself over the holidays.
Self-care can look different to different people. It could be a facial mask, some alone time with a good book, a walk, curling up to binge your favourite show on Netflix or getting a treatment or massage. Whatever your self-care looks like, it’s important to always carve out some time for yourself. There is a reason they say you can’t pour from an empty cup.
So ask yourself, what have you done for yourself lately?
I like to find some time on Sundays, before prepping for the busy week ahead. But I encourage you to find a time that works for you.
And I hope you find some ideas and inspiration from list below!
Note: there are no affiliate links listed. This is a list curated by me, for you. Enjoy.
I love playing with makeup and creating different looks. And when I discovered Virtuesse Vixen Cosmetics and that it is a local Toronto-based company, I had to support local. This gorgeous Independent Eye Shadow Pallete has 11 beautiful shades perfect for any skin tone. And be sure to check out their Vinyl Lip Lacquer which provides long lasting, high impact colour and is available in a variety of shades.
Relaxation & Wellness
When it comes to relaxation and wellness, Saje Natural Wellness is the real deal. With everything from essential oils to skin care and the most beautiful diffusers, they have something to ensure you can unwind, relax and feel better. My go-to is the Peppermint Halo roller which helps to relieve headaches. The perfect self-care gift from you – to you that will keep on giving the rest of the year.
Escape into a book
Reading is a great way to escape and spend some quiet time. Whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, digging into a good book is one of my favourite things to do. Check out Untamed by Glennon Doyle. Or if you prefer to journal, check out The Five-Minute Journal by Intelligent Change. Research shows that journaling can boost happiness and increase productivity.
The latest craze in selfcare and wellness includes CBD. delush is a Canadian holistic lifestyle company that offers hemp-infused wellness and skincare products. All their products are lab-tested and certified, made by hand and are animal cruelty-free. Check out The Magic Stick which helps to soothe aches and pains and the Solvent-Free Tincture, which is great for someone who’s new to using CBD.
Book some time at the spa
The ultimate self-care gift from you – to you is to actually book some time for yourself at the spa. Get a treatment, consultation for some great skincare products and more. My favourite local spa is Freedom Medi-Spa, where they have a full menu of services available with everything from facial treatments to laser hair removal. They have gift certificates available, or you can speak to one of their knowledgeable staff regarding any of their professional grade skincare products, such as Alumier Retinol Resurfacing Serum or Dr. Schrammeck Hydra Maximum Eye Fluid.
If I had to pick one item to take on a desert island, it would be Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry. You will never have chapped lips again! Used every night before you go to bed, this lip mask keeps your lips hydrated and moisturized. A little goes a long way and this little jar can last you up to two years with regular use. It’s also available in 7 other flavours, including Sweet Candy, Apple Lime and Mint Choco and more.
Wear a mask
And finally, the ultimate in self-care is a good face mask. There so many to choose from including mud masks, cleansing masks, and sheet masks, such as these from Dr. Jart+, MaskerAide and Sephora. Be sure to check your local drug store and Winners to find a selection of masks best suited for your skin type and skincare goal you are trying to achieve – minimize pours, brightening, deep cleanse, hydrating, etc. Whatever mask you choose, this is a cheap and cheerful way to sneak a few minutes to yourself and take care of your mental health and your skin!
Self-care is whatever you want it to be. But if you’re looking to surprise yourself with a little me time be sure to invest that time. It doesn’t need to be hours, it can really just be a few quiet minutes in the morning before the madness begins, or on a Sunday night before the start of a new week.
Whenever you carve out that time, remember that you are important too. And the ultimate gift from you – to you, is a little pampering!
