Put the money in your bra and go!

The other day, I was chatting with a bunch of girls about where we used to put our money when we went out…you know, in the olden days. Of the ‘90s. Because we didn’t take our purses to ‘da club back then. We didn’t have cell phones to worry about, or even toonies. (The $2 coin was introduced in 1996, in case you were wondering).

So, we went with our money in one of two places; our pockets, or our bras. Yup. There was many a night I would tuck my twenty bucks in my unmentionables and off I’d go. Although it was easier to put it in my pocket, along with my coat check ticket, driver’s license and my car key. There were no fobs back then either.

And yes, sometimes $20 was all I needed. The early ‘90s was the days of $2 drinks. (Thank goodness the toonie didn’t make an appearance until later). I was one of the only of my friends with my own car, which meant I was often the designated driver. Everyone would pitch in for parking, and cover charge for the club was $10. When we got in, I’d have one drink and then I’d have pop. Please note, we would actually get to the club before nine o’clock, or we didn’t get in. So I didn’t need much more money than that. It’s a good thing too, since I only made minimum wage.

When I think back to those days, my memories are full of funny stories of guys trying to pick us up, tales of getting my friend home by her curfew, good songs and a lot of laughs. Some nights we could hardly keep track of our friends, let alone if we had purses, and cell phones and car fobs and more. It was definitely much easier to put the money in your bra and go!

In honour of the good old days, my Music Monday choice for today is one of my favourite dance songs of all time. Another Night by the Real McCoy. Enjoy!

Another Night

By: The Real McCoy

Chorus:
Another night, another dream, but always you,
Its like a vision of love that seems to be true,
Another night another dream, but always you,
In the night I dream of love so true.

Just another night, another vision of love,
You feel joy, you feel pain, cuz nothing will be the same.
Just another night, is all that it takes,
To understand, the difference between lovers and fakes,
So baby, I talk talk, I talk to you,
In the night in your dream, of love so true.
I talk talk, I talk to you,
In the night in your dream, of love so true.
In the night, in my dreams,
Im in love with you, cuz you talk to me like lovers do,
I feel joy I feel pain, cuz it’s still the same,
When the night is gone I’ll be alone.

Chorus

Just another night, another dream, another vision,
Of love, with me,
Im here to set you free I am your lover, your brother,
Hey sister let me cover, your body with my love is with my lovin just another,
Vision of love, that seems to be true, all we do all the things that only lovers do,
Vision of love, that seems to be true, all we do all the things that only lovers do.
In the night in my dreams Im in love with you,
Cuz you talk to me like lovers do, I feel joy I feel pain,
Cuz it’s still the same, when the night is gone I’ll be alone.

Chorus

I talk talk, I talk to you in the night,
In your dream, of love so true.
I talk talk, I talk to you, in the night, in your dream, of love so true.
In the night, in my dreams Im in love with you,
Cuz you talk to me like lovers do, I feel joy I feel pain
Cuz it’s still the same, when the night is gone I’ll be alone.

Chorus
