High five!

As I sit here and look back on the past five years, I can honestly say it’s been a good journey. Starting this blog is high on my list of accomplishments, and keeping it up (albeit with a few breaks here and there) is something I am so proud of.

This blog is not only an outlet for me to get out my thoughts, feelings, and opinions, but it’s been such a wonderful way to share my love of music and books. I can look back, and hopefully my kids can too someday and see how I felt and what I liked during a particular time.

As my blog description states, I’m writing the soundtrack to my life.

That soundtrack has some ballads, some rock, some R&B and a lot of soul. I would like to think it’s well-rounded, but one can never be sure.

In the past five years, I was lucky to be part of a great program through Yummy Mummy Club, and have been a contributor on a few other blogs. I love that collaboration, and sometimes wonder if I should put myself out there a little more and work with some companies. However, that’s not as easy as it sounds.

I am a part of some great Facebook groups on blogging and I can see there are some people who make some decent coin from their blogs, writing for a living.

I can’t even imagine how to get to that point.

Writing has always been something that I have done. I have copies of stories I have written in elementary school, high school and beyond. Yes, my novel is still in a box in my basement and I promise to one day show it the light of day again. I always have a story bouncing around in my head, just waiting to be pounded out on the keyboard.

Blogging is a way for me to get some other thoughts out. Those struggles with parenting, those thoughts on the state of humankind, my memories of a specific time and place. Those make me happy. Seeing some likes come in for a review on a book I just read and loved, gives me joy.

So, while I may not have the biggest following or the greatest reach, I have some loyal followers who read and like what I’m doing. And to those people, and those who read and follow, but may not “like”, I thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to read my words. For following along on the adventures of the Little Bird and the Little Mouse, as they grow from babies to young ladies. For showing me your love, giving me your opinions, and sticking by me.

I really do appreciate it.

High five!
